FAHAMU - Fahamu is committed to serving the needs of organisations and social movements that aspire to progressive social change and which promote and protect human rights. MASAMBE - Masambe is a newly formed trust supporting women who wish to establish small/micro businesses in Nkonkobe Municipality. Masambe assists these new businesses by providing microcredit facilities, and this work is being supported by BEFSA. DONALD WOODS TRUST - A close partnership already exists with the Donald Woods Trust as Wendy Woods is the Chair of DWT and a trustee of BEFSA. The Donald Woods Trust’s focus is on a community of 27 schools in Hobeni, in the former Transkei area of the Eastern Cape. Its aims are similar to those of BEFSA but with a special focus on support for families affected by HIV/Aids. To find out more about the Donald Woods Trust, visit www.donaldwoodsfoundation.org

PONDO TRUST - BEFSA is working with the Pondo Trust (McGregor) to assist the teaching and care staff in supporting children who have learning difficulties as a consequence of alcohol abuse and neglect. OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL, SOUTH AFRICA ADVISORY GROUP - A close relationship exists with OCC as Keith Borien was the lead officer of the council’s SAAG from 1995 to 2004. During that time an informal but strong partnership was established with the Eastern Cape Department of Education. Keith and Catherine maintain close working relations with SAAG and try to attend their meetings on the annual visits to the UK. EDUCATION FOR ALL (EFA) - is a newly established UK trust working to accelerate the education transformation process in the UK and SA. In a short time it has established very close relationships with BEFSA and many of the key players in the UK government, local authorities and the construction and waste management industry to secure better environmental solutions to the disposal of school furniture. This work is at the heart of a major education transformation process which seeks to tackle climate change and poverty reduction issues in the UK and the developing world.
