Leadership Training
It is anticipated that BEFSA will be able to rely on the support of a large number of UK based education professionals (Heads, advisors, consultants, administrators) who have considerable experience in capacity building and in staff training. As there appears to be little in the way of positive interventions in the important areas of school leadership, management, school governance and teacher development, BEFSA will place education experts into schools for one to two weeks at a time to support schools which currently receive very little in the way of specialist input. BEFSA will do this in conjunction with the Eastern Cape Department of Education. BEFSA’s role will be to coordinate the training programmes and to brief and to support the training providers during their stay in SA which will be undertaken on a purely voluntary basis. Catherine and I will make inputs to the training as appropriate. BEFSA will assist with the costs and arrangements with local transport and accommodation as required.
